St. Wenceslaus

Eastman, WI

We extend a warm, joyful, and heartfelt welcome to you! Whether you are

a long-time parishioner, new to the area, or simply exploring the Catholic faith,

we are absolutely delighted to have you visit our corner of God’s kingdom. We are a loving and vibrant community, passionately dedicated to spreading the glorious message of God's boundless Love, infinite Mercy, and complete Forgiveness to all the people around us.

Our faith is built upon the magnificent truth that the Lord, in His unfathomable wisdom, created us in His own precious image and likeness (Genesis 1:27). We are created with a sacred purpose: to love the Lord our God

with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to tenderly love our neighbor as ourselves.

As Jesus taught us, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with

all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And

a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two

commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 22:37-40).

God's generosity is limitless! He sent His only beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to

save the world, demonstrating a love so epic that it conquers all. "For God so

loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him

shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). We are all miraculously saved

by this gracious act of Jesus' sacrifice. Because of this marvelous gift, we are

called to be faithful disciples and follow His divine commands. Life becomes

incredibly simple and blessedly rich when we choose to live daily in the comforting and powerful presence of the Lord.

We encourage your precious faith with the comforting assurance: "The

steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they

are new every morning; great is your faithfulness"  (Lamentations 3:22-23). We

invite you to join our welcoming family! Come and experience the overwhelming

presence of Christ in the Sacraments, in our shared worship, and in the genuine

fellowship of believers.

You are cherished. You are forgiven.

You belong here.

  • History

From the earliest settlement of the town of Eastman, those of the the Roman Catholics have held services. The earliest record shows that a priest came from La Crosse and established a mission in 1847. The mission was placed under the direction of Father Lucien Galtier of St. Gabriel's in Prairie du Chien for several years. Later it was a mission of St. John's Bohemian Church.

In 1856 ten Catholic families lived in Eastman. It is a historical fact that the Holy Sacriface of Mass  had been offered in private homes prior to the time the first church was built. In the year 1873 Frank Honslik & John Rohlik donated 4 acres of land south of the village of Eastman for a church site. The Church was in construction for 10 years. The first Mass was held June 15, 1884.  the first Rectory was built in 1898, and burned in 1916, rebuilt in 1917. In the history of the church there were 2 fires; July 1906 a lightning bolt started a fire that gutted the building. The congregation rebuilt and a second fire destroyed the church on Christmas Day 1917, leaving only the orignial stone walls. The present church was constructed immediately following the fire, utilizing what remained of the original stone strucure. Mass was held Christmas Day, 1918. (Eastman Village, Town and Area, published 1969)
